From the Desk of Principal McElhaney:
The buzz at Annapolis Middle School is the I & I (Independence & Intervention) Program from not only the students but the teachers as well. Annapolis Middle School students have had the opportunity to participate in the I & I Program now for the last 2 weeks. The program is aimed at doing the following: raise student performance, motivate students to want to succeed, reward those who are meeting academic success and give more individualized or small group instruction.
The program runs on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays on a rotational basis. Students that have met the school wide academic goal are allowed to attend supervised activities throughout the school and those that have not receive the immediate small group or individualized instruction in an effort to meet the goal the next rotation. The activities throughout the school include indoor soccer, open seating in the Café, outside time, Rubic Cube, science inquiry labs, open Media Center for various topics and basketball in the gym to name a few. Those who meet this goal get a little down time and those that didn’t will gain the confidence to increase their grades during the school day.
