Welcome to the 2014-2015 School Year!

Post date: Aug 26, 2014 7:23:32 PM

We are concentrating on value this year so the products are good quality and the pricing the same as Amazon and other major retailers. Also, this year we will have real prizes! By real I mean

Speaking of everyone's favorite topic, we have a new company this year for our beloved fundraiser. The company is called Believe Kids http://www.believekids.com/ and they really care about making the fundraising process as seemless and fun as possible.

I never do "Letters from the PTSA President" but I wanted to take this opportunity to say hello and fill you in on the upcoming year. We have some new board members this year, primarily Melissa Fennelly as Communications Coordinator. Those of you who received the Hillsmere Buzz will find a familiar format in our new and improved Dragon Blast. Julie Lenox is Vice President, Kathy Schuster is Secretary and Bill Hyland and Matt Schuster fill out the board as Treasurer and President.

So, what have we been up to? Our Sound System that we worked so hard to purchase is ready for its premier! On September 4th we will have 6th grade Back To School Night and 7th & 8th Grade will follow on September 18th. Our new sound system should make it easier to hear and will be available for performances and assemblies. This was also a large portion of the budget for the school play so besides better sounds, the play participants can concentrate on wowing us on stage and not doing fundraising.

Weekly Drawings for Mega Sandy Candy Straws

1 Winner Per Grade for a Kindle Fire (3 Kindle Fires total)

1 Grand Prize Ipad Mini Winner

For every 5 items your child sells they will get one entry in the raffle for the above prizes. Parents who wish to opt out of fundraising can donate $25 as the equivalent as selling 5 items.

Plus, any class that has 50% participation gets a great recess with Sandy Candy Straws and their teacher is entered in a raffle for an Andriod Tablet!

We are also limiting our fundraising for just one month so we are hoping for a "One and Done" event.

We are exploring other ways to raise funds as well. This summer we were able to host summer camps in the school to help raise funds. We also applied for and won a grant from True Value Hardware for almost $2000 in paint! We have replaced almost all of the chalk boards with high tech white boards and mounted projectors.

You can be an active part of the PTSA without ever coming to a meeting. Simply fill out this membership form and drop it off at the main office. You can join the PTSA for as little as $10!

Thanks again for choosing our school!
