Sean McElhaney doesn't like the title "principal," a term students often associate with dreaded trips to an office where discipline is doled out.
To his students and teachers, he's "Mr. Mac," a nickname he hopes will make him more approachable.
"When you talk to middle school students, if you say 'Hey, you're getting a new principal,' to them, it means you're getting a new mean guy or mean lady in charge of the school. And that's not me," he said.
McElhaney was recently transferred from Old Mill Middle School North, where he was a principal for about a decade, to Annapolis Middle School.
